How to get more likes and shares on your Facebook posts

In this text, I will show you a feature offered by Facebook to get more likes and shares of your posts. Even though there is no secret to it and the cost of this feature is relatively low, many people still do not take advantage of boosting posts to attract more followers to their Fanpage.

Despite being simple and inexpensive, make no mistake, everything you do on Facebook deserves your full attention. A poorly thought-out post, instead of enhancing your business, can make it uninteresting or even put you in a difficult situation. In other words, you will have to invest something much more valuable than money in order for your Fanpage to bring good results: your time. Before you give up, know that, with organization and focus, you will be able to perform this task without harming the progress of the many others you already perform.

The first step, of course, is to create a Fanpage: a Facebook page specifically for promoting businesses, artists, institutions, in short, a professional profile. On this page, instead of friends, your company will have followers: people who, instead of requesting your friendship, will like your page.

Therefore, if you still use your personal profile mixed with topics related to your business, stop now. I won’t go into detail about this topic because there are two other posts published here on the blog showing how to create your fan page and what you should publish on it.

If you have already created your Fanpage, the followers and page likes are coming, your posts are aligned with your marketing strategy, but still, you do not feel these results in a significant way, maybe it is time to start investing some money to boost your posts.

Boosting posts is pretty simple. You’ve created a really cool post about an event your business is hosting, a new product that’s just arrived in your store, or you’ve created content on your blog that your potential customers will be interested in. You know that this content would appeal to a lot of people, but you only get a few likes.

In this case, the “boost” feature will allow your publication to have a greater number of views, placing your post on the timeline of people with the profile defined by you. To start, click on the “boost” button that appears in the bottom right corner of the post you want to promote. Then, you will be directed to the boost settings, where you will define the audience profile you want to reach and the amount you want to invest.

Audience profile

You can choose between two types of audience definition:

People you select through targeting:

This option allows you to define a greater amount of information such as gender, place of residence, age and interests. This profile should be chosen when you want to attract new followers to your Fanpage in a targeted way, that is, people with the profile of interest in your products or services.

People who liked your page (with option to include their friends):

This profile only defines the location where the person lives, provided that they have already liked your page. It is ideal for promoting a local business where the consumption of the product or service is carried out in the store itself, and a way to inform your customers about promotions, events and new products.

It’s not easy to get these settings right the first time. That’s why it’s important to experiment with which settings get the most likes and shares for your post. To do this, set up more than one profile and try them out at different times. Facebook allows you to save these newly created groups. This way, it’s easier to return to a setting that gave the best results. Remember to name each group so that you remember which post and when it was used. You create this name yourself.

Budget definition

The minimum budget is R$1.00 per day and the period can vary between 1, 7 or 14 days. As you enter the amount, an estimate of people reached appears below: people who will see your post on their timeline.

This doesn’t mean they’ll like or share your post . The job of this Facebook boost is to get your post in front of more people, but making it interesting content is your job (or the job of a company or digital marketing professional you hire).

How to create a good post

To begin, you need to define a basic objective that you want to achieve with the post: increase your followers, attract potential customers or sell a product.

If you simply want to increase your number of followers, using a short text and a photo can be very effective and attractive. Of course, you can’t forget that the topic should revolve around your segment, but this type of post can be more generic.

If you want to attract a qualified audience that is really looking for what you offer, it is a good idea to focus on more elaborate content. A good example is the NEX Program Fanpage. When we want our blog posts to reach a larger number of small business owners, we publish the link on our Fanpage and promote it. This way, we are able to offer relevant and quality content to potential customers and those who are already our subscribers.

But if you want something more objective, like selling a new product, the post will need a photo and some promotional information.

To better understand how your post will appear on your target audience’s timeline, access the Facebook Advertiser Help Center link and watch the video that appears at the beginning.

If you want more content about Facebook ads, leave your suggestion in the comments and I’ll write about the subject again.

Another strategy you can use in your Facebook posts to promote your products is to create your store’s Digital Product Catalog. With this free feature from the Nex Program, your customers can choose products and place an order online directly from your catalog! Promoting new products that make your customers’ lives easier engages your audience more.
